After UFC 165, Dana White was asked what the status was with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (pictured). The UFC president’s response, “I don’t know. ‘Little Nog’ is always hurt.”
Then, the promotion announced Nogueira would face Alexander Gustafsson on March 8 in England.
Yeah, about that…
On Thursday night, MMAFighting.com reported Nogueira has withdrawn from the fight due to a “lingering back issue” that will likely keep him sidelined until May.
Nogueira hasn’t been seen since taking a decision win over former champion Rashad Evans in February. The 37-year-old TKO’d Tito Ortiz in his fight before that.
No word on what’s in store for Guastafsson. He’s expected to remain on the card, which takes place inside O2 Arena in London.
