UFC lightweight fighter Gleison Tibau will be forced to withdraw from his bout against Hermes Franca at UFC 90 due to a shoulder injury. Marcus Aurelio has stepped in to replace Tibau on the October 25th card.
Sherdog.com was the first to report the injury, citing Franca, however the UFC has yet to release an official statement regarding Tibau’s situation.
Aurelio lost his last bout in the Octagon at UFC 86 against Tyson Griffin. The former PrideFC fighter is 2-3 in the UFC.
This will be Franca’s second fight off his year-long suspension. Franca had tested positive for a banned steroid in 2007. He lost in his return to the Octagon against Frankie Edgar at Fight Night 14 in July.
