What does two consecutive victories inside the Octagon get you? If you’re UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub (pictured), a six-fight contract extension to remain with the planet’s premier mixed martial arts promotion.
“Gonna be in the @ufc a lil longer signed new 6 fight deal w/ @danawhite today,” Schaub posted on his Twitter account Wednesday with the above pic.
Schaub has notched a 6-2 record since losing to Roy Nelson in the finals of “The Ultimate Fighter 10.” His most impressive scores during his tenure in the UFC came in back-to-back outings – a decision win over former top contender Gabriel Gonzaga, then a knockout on Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic.
“The Hybrid” then hit a rough patch with two straight KO losses, which had many believing his UFC career was jeopardy. Schaub managed to right the ship by rattling off a pair of victories, with his most recent coming in a easy submission over Matt Mitrione at UFC 166.
No word on when the likable 30-year-old will break in his new deal.
