UFC heavyweight Shane Del Rosario (pictured) is in critical condition after suffering a heart attack at his Southern California home on Tuesday.
“Shane Del Rosario had a catastrophic cardiovascular collapse at home on Tuesday morning,” Del Rosario’s manager, Jason House, expressed in a statement. “He was brought to the hospital in full cardiac arrest. He was resuscitated in the emergency room back to a stable heart rhythm and blood pressure. He is currently in the coronary care unit critically ill. Our prayers are with him and his family.”
UFC officials confirmed Del Rosario’s condition with 5thRound.com, but were unable to provide any further information at this time.
Del Rosario has never had any reported heart conditions in the past.
The 30-year-old was slated to fight Guto Inocente next month at UFC 168, but was forced to withdraw recently with a rib injury.
Del Rosario owns a respectable 11-2 professional record. He has dropped his last two bouts in (T)KO fashion.
