When it comes to UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey (pictured), you either love her or you don’t. There really doesn’t seem to be a middle ground for the “Rowdy” one.
Now that her contentious stint on “The Ultimate Fighter 18” is officially over, there appears to be a lot more fans who don’t love her than before the reality show aired.
You can add TUF 18 finalist Julianna Pena to the don’t love list.
“I think what bugs me the most [about Rousey] just would be her all-around pretentious attitude,” Penna said on Wednesday’s edition of “Fox Sports Live.” “I feel like she’s just a spoiled, rich brat. And that’s what I think.”
Pena rode Miesha Tate’s tutelage to the finals, so it’s clear why she’s not fond of Rousey. Jessica Rakoczy, who battles Pena Saturday for a six-figure UFC contract, was coached by Rousey on the show and couldn’t disagree more with her opponent’s remarks – but she understands.
“No, that’s [Pena’s] comment. No I don’t [agree with it],” Rakoczy said. “I don’t think she’s seen the side of Ronda that [everyone on Team Rousey has] all seen. I can understand how people can view her the way they are seeing her on TV, and [Pena] being on Miesha’s team as well. [Rousey’s] really cool and funny, but they didn’t get to see that side of her.”
Pena will stand face-to-face with Rousey after her fight with Rakoczy. The question is, will she be hoisting the TUF 18 trophy while she’s doing it?
