When Nate Diaz (pictured) and Gray Maynard got bumped to the main event at “The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale” after Demetrious Johnson vs. Joseph Benavidez was moved to UFC on FOX 9, Diaz griped because their scrap remained a three round affair instead of five.
It was a moot point in the end, as Diaz pulverized Maynard for an opening round TKO victory.
The lightweights technically met for the third time inside the Octagon, but only the second officially.
Diaz won their first scrap via submission in an unofficial bout on “The Ultimate Fighter 5.” Diaz went on to take their season of the reality show.
Maynard edged Diaz for a close split decision win in their sequel.
Diaz took a clear lead in their rivalry with last night’s mauling.
TUF 18 Finale took place inside Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
