Despite Saturday’s second round submission loss to Chris Holdsworth in the finals of “The Ultimate Fighter 18,” Davey Grant (pictured) has still scored a deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
“Just found out that @danawhite is going to give me a UFC contract. I’m ecstatic. I’m going to fight my f****** ass off thank you so so much,” Grant tweeted Tuesday.
Terms of Grant’s deal were not disclosed. However, it was not of the six-figure variety as it wouldn’t make any sense for him to land the same lucrative agreement Holdsworth got for winning the bantamweight tournament.
Grant, like his other TUF 18 counterparts who performed at last weekend’s finale, received a disclosed $8,000 to show with the potential for another $8,0000 with a win. His new deal would likely start around that range.
The 27-year-old was a likable character on the reality show. Many fans related to Grant’s human side, as he often talked about missing his family back home in England.
Grant owns an 8-2 professional record. No word on when “Dangerous” will break in his new UFC contract.
