Have no fear, Zach Makovsky (pictured) is here. One day after John Dodson was forced to withdraw from his UFC on FOX 9 fight against Scott Jorgensen, and 11 days before showtime, the former Bellator bantamweight champion has agreed to make his UFC debut against Jorgensen on last-second’s notice.
The UFC announced the new matchup Tuesday evening.
Makovsky was released from Bellator after dropping two straight scraps, but has rebounded nicely with a pair of unanimous decision victories in smaller promotions. “Fun Size” beat Matt Manzanares just last month at RFA 11.
This marks Jorgensen’s third opponent for the event. Prior to Dodson bowing out, Ian McCall was forced to withdraw due to injury.
Jorgensen has fought under the Zuffa banner since 2008. He went 7-3 in the WEC before the promotion closed its blue-caged doors. However, “Young Guns” has won just half of his six bouts in the big leagues.
The 125-pound affair will take place on the prelims.
FOX will broadcast the main care live starting at 8PM ET/5PM PT.
