UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey (pictured) may not have made any new fans – while losing quite a few – during her tumultuous stint as coach on “The Ultimate Fighter 18,” but that certainly didn’t affect her standing with TIME.
According to the magazine’s website, Rousey is among the top 30 people under 30 changing the world.
“Ronda Rousey is the first-ever woman to sign with the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) mixed martial arts company,” TIME wrote of Rousey. “In February, she beat fellow trailblazer Liz Carmouche in a historic UFC match. Rousey is updating the face of female athletics through her tough skills and commercial successes.”
Rousey, who is 26, looks to follow up her spectacular big league debut later this month at UFC 168 by defending her throne against Miesha Tate. The bitter rivals co-headline the pay-per-view broadcast.
Parker Liautaud, a 19-year-old polar explorer, is the only other “sports” figure to crack TIME’s list.
