Travis Browne (pictured) was down and out after losing to Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva at the end of 2012. Granted, he tore his hamstring in the opening minutes of that bout, but there are no asterisks in the loss column.
Nonetheless, Browne couldn’t have asked for a better 2013. Former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett became his latest victim Saturday at UFC 168.
Barnett was grinding him against the cage looking for a takedown, but ate a knee to the midsection that appeared to take the wind out of him. Barnett was then on the receiving end of countless elbows to the dome that subsequently had him unconscious on the canvas.
Browne became the first fighter in UFC history to KO two people with standing elbows. Yes, someone is actually keeping track of that.
“Hapa” did the same thing to Gabriel Gonzaga in April. He followed that win up by kicking Alstair Overeem in the face in August.
Browne called out Fabricio Werdum during after his latest victory.
Unfortunately, because Browne’s win came so quickly and the UFC doesn’t show finishes from pay-per-view fights, FOX was only able to provide an interview and pictures of what happened in the video below.
UFC 168 took place inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
