The Nevada State Athletic Commission has medically suspended 11 athletes who competed in Saturday’s “UFC 168: Weidman vs. Silva II” event.

Former middleweight king Anderson Silva (pictured) has been issued a six-month ban for the fractured left leg he suffered against Chris Weidman in the show’s featured contest. Silva had emergency surgery late Saturday night, where a intramedullary rod was inserted into his tibia.

His broken fibula was stabilized and did not require a separate operation.

According to the UFC, recovery from such injuries is typically six to eight months.

MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas hosted UFC 168.
