Who says you can’t go home again? Especially when there are so many injuries in the UFC. Sixteen months after getting released from the world’s premier mixed martial arts promotion, Charlie Brenneman (pictured) will return to fight Beneil Dariush at UFC Fight Night 35.
Dariush was originally slated to face Jason High in the January 15 event, but High revealed Wednesday that a ruptured appendix and subsequent surgery had forced him out at the 11th hour.
Dariush announced his new opponent on his official Facebook page late last night. UFC officials have yet to confirm the tango.
Brenneman was cut by the UFC after dropping three of four scraps, including two straight. “The Spaniard” has since rattled off four consecutive victories in smaller organizations.
Dariush will be riding a perfect 6-0 professional record into his big league debut. The 24-year-old was last seen knocking out Jason Meaders in a RITC event in May.
The 155-pound affair will appear in the main card.
