For the first time in four years, the Octagon will host a show in Abu Dhabi. The UFC announced Tuesday the April 11 event will be headlined by a heavyweight shootout between Roy Nelson (pictured) and Antonio Nogueira.
It will be a UFC Fight Night card, so it will be made available for live viewing on either Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2 or UFC Fight Pass. That, as well as which venue will hold the festivities, will determined shortly.
Nelson will be looking to snap a two-fight skid. The likable slugger was most recently seen in October dropping a unanimous decision to Daniel Cormier.
Nogueira has alternated between wins and losses over his last eight outings. The former heavyweight champion was submitted by Fabricio Werdum in June.
No other bouts were reported for the lineup.
The UFC’s return to Abu Dhabi was a no-brainer considering Abu Dhabi-based Flash Entertainment bought 10 percent of the company back in 2010. However, the debacle that was UFC 112 that same year has prevented a quicker comeback.
