Affliction Entertainment VP Tom Atencio said after “Affliction: Banned” that he was going to make the necessary changes to ensure Affliction’s stay in the MMA game. Some were crticial of Affliction’s broadcast team, so it was announced today that the IFL’s former broadcast team of Kenny Rice, Bas Rutten and Ron Kruck will be brought in to replace Jay Glazer, Frank Trigg and “Big” John McCarthy.

A closer look at the move reveals that it was not caused by the reactions from the MMA community. The truth of the matter is that Frank Trigg is an active fighter, John McCarthy runs a MMA gym and Jay Glazer works for FOX during the NFL season.

Of course, it does also makes sense for Affliction to bring in a more experienced broadcast team for “Affliction: Day of Reckoning” on October 11th.

Following the announcement, Bas Rutten told SI.com, “every company thus far has really tried to make it where the UFC is, and Affliction can be right there.”
