After another night of ho-hum MMA action, UFC president Dana White awarded Erick Silva (pictured), Charles Oliveira, Lyoto Machida and Gegard Mousasi each an additional $50,000 for their performances Saturday at “UFC Fight Night: Machida vs. Mousasi.”
The UFC debuted their new ‘Fight Night’ bonus structure tonight, banishing “Knockout of the Night” and “Submission of the Night” in favor of “Performances of the Night.” Ironically, Silva KO’d Takenori Sato and Oliveira submitted Andy Ogle, the only finished posted on the entire 12-bout card, to score “Performances of the Night.”
Lyoto Machida defeated Gegard Mousasi in the show’s featured attraction. Their 25-minute affair was good enough for “Fight of the Night” honors.
Of the Octagon’s last 24 scraps, 20 have resulted in decision – most being of the uneventful variety. UFC 170 looks to pick up the slack next Saturday in Las Vegas.
UFC Fight Night 36 took place inside Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Brazil.
