The home state of UFC president Dana White has become the 42nd state to sanction the sport of mixed martial arts. This opens up the doors for the UFC to host an event at Fenway Park, in what would be a dream come true for the long-time Red Sox fan.

“I am so pumped that the UFC® is finally coming to Massachusetts. I guarantee that we will put on an incredible UFC® event for Boston in 2010,” White said about the sport’s sanctioning.

Kenny Florian, the Lauzon brothers (Dan & Joe), MMA trainer Mark DellaGrotte and many other figures in the sport all hail from Massachusetts.

If the UFC does host an event at Fenway Park, it will be the largest crowd to ever attend a UFC event.
