After a spectacular night of MMA action, UFC president Dana White awarded Johny Hendricks (pictured), Robbie Lawler, Ovince St. Preux and Dennis Bermudez each an additional $50,000 for their special performances Saturday night at “UFC 171: Hendricks vs. Lawler.”
As main eventers should, Hendricks and Lawler put on the most exciting performances of the night. Their 25-minute shootout, which resulted in a Hendricks unanimous decision victory to capture the vacant welterweight title, was good enough to score “Fight of the Night.”
St. Preux made quick work of Nikita Krylov by submitting the former heavyweight with a seldom seen Von Flue choke in the opening round of their scrap. Bermudez dominated Jimy Hettes and sealed the deal with a TKO in the final frame.
St. Preux and Bermudez each took home “Performance of the Night.”
UFC 171 took place inside American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
