On Tuesday, Bellator MMA revealed two things about their upcoming pay-per-view debut on May 17.
First and foremost, former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (pictured) and Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal will co-headline the gig when they meet in Bellator’s Light Heavyweight Tournament finals.
This isn’t a surprising move, as the part-time TNA wrestlers are Bellator’s biggest mainstream stars. In addition, Bellator announced their PPV debut on the same night Rampage and King Mo were performing to advance to the tourney finals.
You remember, it was the same night Rampage and King Mo got into a (staged) shouting and shoving match inside the cage.
Speaking of the 205-pound tournament, it wasn’t a tough path for the two to collide in the finale. There were only four participants in the brackets.
The other thing Bellator revealed about the show is Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi will serve as host.
A lightweight trilogy between champion Eddie Alvarez and Michael Chandler headlines the event.
Here is the show’s current lineup:
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs. Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal
Michael Chandler vs. Eddie Alvarez (Bellator lightweight champion)
