Outside of Cris “Cyborg” Justino and Gina Carano, the prior marking a possibility and the latter being a longshot, the other female fighter not in the UFC who could be a potential threat to reigning bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey’s throne is Holly Holm (pictured).
UFC president Dana White revealed Thursday that he’s scheduled to meet with Holm and her representatives over this UFC 171 weekend.
“Yeah, I’m meeting with her this week,” White revealed. “Don’t know. Never met ’em. Nothing [to say right now]. I’m gonna meet them this weekend.”
Holm is a perfect 6-0 since putting boxing in her rear-view mirror. The 32-year-old was smart enough to sign nonexclusive deals with all of the smaller MMA promotions she’s performed for, so just in case the opportunity to fight in the UFC arose, she would be free and clear to bounce.
Clearly, Holm’s biggest asset are her hands, which are Rousey’s greatest weakness. Of course, Rousey hasn’t had much trouble taking any of her nine victims to the ground whenever she wants, which would be Holm’s toughest test against the UFC’s queen bee.
“The Preacher’s Daughter” was last seen taking a unanimous decision over Angela Hayes in December.
