It wasn’t exactly how Tyron Woodley (pictured) envisioned beating former interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit at UFC 171, but it’s a win, nonetheless.
Woodley took the first round on the strength of some solid punches and a couple of takedowns. Speaking of takedowns, when he planted Condit on his back in the second stanza, “The Natural Born Killer” noticeably winced as though something was seriously out of whack.
After fighting to get back to his feet, we quickly discovered what it was. Woodley immediately kicked him in the left knee, which caused Condit to put all of his weight on his right leg. Condit instantly collapsed to the canvas grasping his right knee and the scrap was called.
The official stoppage on the TKO came at 2:00 in the second round.
After the fight, Woodley requested a title fight. Granted he beat Condit, but it was of the freakish nature and might be a tough sell.
UFC 171 took place Saturday inside American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
