On Tuesday, the UFC announced they will make their Albuquerque, New Mexico debut on June 7. A lightweight scrap between former champion Benson Henderson (pictured) and Rustam Khabilov headlines the gig.
Tingley Coliseum hosts the festivities.
Local outlet AbqJournal.com first reported the news, which the UFC subsequently confirmed by retweeting the article.
Henderson has rattled off wins in eight of his last nine fights, with his most recent coming in January’s split decision victory over Josh Thomson. All of “Smooth’s” wins during his current run have come courtesy of the judges’ scorecards.
Khabilov owns a 17-1 professional record. The Russian’s lone blemish came via split decision to Ruslan Khaskhanov in a M-1 Global event in 2011. Khabilov is unbeaten in all three of his bouts inside the Octagon.
The card will be of the UFC Fight Night variety. No word if the event will be made available for viewing via UFC Fight Pass, Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2 or a combination of the three.
