On Wednesday afternoon, the UFC announced a featherweight shootout between Cub Swanson and Jeremy Stephens (pictured) will headline their debut in San Antonio.
The June 28 event takes place inside AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Swanson, who has rattled off five straight wins, was hoping July’s TKO victory over Dennis Siver would score him a crack at 145-pound king Jose Aldo. Unfortunately for the former WEC star, it appears UFC brass want to see at least one more quality win before granting him a championship affair.
Stephens will be riding a three-fight winning streak into Texas. “Lil’ Heathen” notched a unanimous decision over Darren Elkins in his most recent outing.
No other bouts have been reported for the card thus far.
Fox Sports 1 is expected to broadcast the main card live.
