Cris “Cyborg” Justino’s (pictured) ambitious plans were to win the Lions Fight Muay Thai title on Friday, defend her Invicta FC featherweight crown in May, drop down to win the Invicta FC bantamweight belt this summer, then challenge UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey in December.
Yeah, about that whole “one step at a time” thing…
In what many are calling one of the best women’s Muay Thai fights ever, Justino was dropped a few times in her shootout with Jorina Baars and ultimately dropped a (49-45, 48-45, 49-44) unanimous decision to the Muay Thai specialist.
For the first time in her career, MMA or otherwise, Justino wasn’t able to overpower and bully her way to a victory.
Just because Justino couldn’t successfully check the first item off her list doesn’t mean she won’t be able to accomplish the rest, which all happen to be in her area of expertise of MMA.
However, when it’s time to sit down with UFC president Dana White at the negotiating table, guess what Muay Thai performance will most certainly be brought up and used against her?
