Remember last week when the rumor mill was buzzing that Daniel Cormier would likely meet Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante at UFC 175? Yeah, about that…
According to MMAFighting.com, the UFC is now aiming to have Cormier meet Dan Henderson (pictured) in the July 5 event.
Cormier successfully made his light heavyweight debut in February by quickly disposing of Patrick Cummins at UFC 170. The 35-year-old will now test his skills against someone with a similar arsenal – a wrestler-turned slugger.
Henderson is just eight days removed from his dramatic come-from-behind TKO victory over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. It was a much-needed win for Hendo, as he had dropped his prior three bouts before beating the Brazilian for the second time.
If this report holds true, the 205-pound affair will likely serve as UFC 175‘s co-featured attraction. Middleweight champion Chris Weidman will defend his throne against Lyoto Machida in the main event.
Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada will host the festivities.
Here are the athletes currently expected to perform in the show:

Lyoto Machida vs. Chris Weidman (UFC middleweight champion)
