Herschel Walker

Former NFL great Herschel Walker will finally step into the cage after his highly publicized announcement that he would be starting a career in MMA. Strikeforce made it official via a press release sent out to the media on Friday.

Walker appeared on many sports radio and TV shows to promote the fact that he would be fighting in MMA.

UFC president Dana White obviously didn’t think much of it being his usual self saying, “Doing stupid things like this, putting a 50-year old guy in the Octagon for the first time, and then going out there putting out press releases like it’s a big deal because you signed a 50-year-old Herschel Walker? Are you serious?”

The former running back then went on ESPN’s ‘First Take’ to challenge White to a fight, a fight in which White obviously declined.

Nick Diaz and Strikeforce female champ Cris Cyborg will also be returning to action on the January 30th card, which will take place at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida and be broadcast on Showtime.
