Kimbo Slice

Sure Dana White was probably upset when Kimbo Slice got dominated on the ground against Roy Nelson in only the third episode of this season’s “Ultimate Fighter” show, but White knows he has a big draw in Slice and that’s why he’s on tonight’s finale on Spike.

Everybody who knows anything about MMA understands that Kimbo’s biggest weakness is his ground game and understandably so. How many street fights do you see where a guy goes for an armbar when the other guy is throwing blows?

That’s probably why the UFC has decided to pair Kimbo up against another guy who has a less-than-stellar ground game in Houston Alexander.

Alexander has definitely fought much tougher competition than Kimbo, but that still doesn’t change the fact that he and Kimbo are probably on an even playing field when it comes to groundwork.

What does that mean for the UFC? Simple, ratings.

People want to watch Kimbo Slice fight. People want to watch Houston Alexander fight someone that’s willing to throw bombs with him. It’s a match made in heaven.

“The Assassin” presents the only legitimate opponent that Kimbo can fight who will want to avoid the ground as much as he does.

With a win, Kimbo will make his stay in the Octagon permanent. If he loses? Well let’s be real, he’ll still be in the UFC.
