After quickly disposing of Tim Boetsch on Saturday at UFC 172, Luke Rockhold called for a rematch with Vitor Belfort or a grudge match with Michael Bisping (pictured).
Demanding Belfort makes complete sense. “The Phenom” is currently ranked #2 in the middleweight standings, three slots ahead of Rockhold, is riding a three-fight winning streak, and who could blame Rockhold for wanting to vindicate the highlight-reel head kick KO a TRT-powered Belfort posterized him with last May?
However, what’s the benefit in fighting Bisping right now? Granted, it has become cliché for everybody and their mother calls out “The Count” after posting a win, but Bisping is coming off a horrible lopsided loss to Tim Kennedy and hasn’t collected consecutive victories since December 2011.
The chatty Brit is also currently ranked #8 in the middleweight standings.
Bisping would have far more to gain from a matchup with Rockhold than the other way around at this point, and that’s why the Brit had not problem accepting the challenge.
“So @LukeRockhold called me out. I’m more than happy to oblige. At least he will fight not try and dry hump me. @ufc let’s do this!” Bisping responded on Twitter.
Message to Luke: Sometimes, resolving Twitter beefs aren’t the best career choices.
