Phil Davis was talking mad smack to light heavyweight king Jon Jones (pictured) all fight week. While Jones opted to remain focused on opponent Glover Teixeira instead of engaging in verbal warfare with Davis, “Mr. Wonderful” continued his assault.
Jones immediately questioned whether Davis was giving Anthony Johnson the level of attention required for their shootout.
Clearly, Davis didn’t. He was steamrolled by Johnson from the jump for a lopsided unanimous decision defeat. At Saturday’s post-fight press conference, Jones gave Johnson several high-fives for putting Davis in his place.
Jones (presumably) took one final shot at Davis, but didn’t have to utter a single word in the video he posted on Instagram. Jones’ caption asked, “Crumble me like a cookie?”
Last week, Davis said he would crumble Jones like a sugar cookie.
Davis wasn’t the only one to experience Jones’ wrath on the social media site. “Bones” also took aim at UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell, who is buddies with Teixeira.
Liddell unexpectedly created a stir last week by suggesting he could beat Jones in his prime, and would even come out of retirement to challenge the most decorated UFC light heavyweight champion if UFC president Dana White would agree.
White isn’t interested.
Jones taunted Liddell on IG after beating Teixeira with the pic below captioned, “Talking all that trash before the fight.. you mad bro?”
