What do Josh Thomson (pictured) and Jon Jones have in common? Outside of both their names starting with the letter J, they each need to keep better tabs on their cellphones.
Less than a month after Jones claimed his phone was stolen and the alleged thief hacked his Instagram account to make some homophobic comments, only to tweak his story later by adding someone he previously hired to help him with his online exposure was bitter and made the controversial remarks, Thomson says his phone was swiped at dinner Saturday night when his phone jacker went after Nick Diaz.
“I knocked out your brother, I’ll knock ur bitch ass out in San Jose July 26th.Let’s do it Bitch, San Jose vs Stockon. Yup, F*** U NICK DIAZ!” the culprit wrote on Thomson’s official Twitter account.
Yes, apparently Thomson’s thief is privy to the MMA game.
After catching wind of the post, Thomson took to Twitter to clarify what happened.
“People that know me, know I wouldn’t ever talk about a fighter like this. My phone was stolen last night while at dinner,” Thomson explained. “I respect every fighter and especially the Diaz brothers. @NateDiaz209 an @nickdiaz209 always been cool guys to me and nothing bad to say.
“My apologies to anyone who was offended by the tweets and texts.”
Does Nick Diaz even care? Probably not since he’s retired and claims he’ll only return to fighting if it’s for the title or $500,000.
Thomson, meanwhile, hasn’t fought since dropping a controversial split decision to Benson Henderson in January. “Punk” was so distraught after the defeat that he was contemplating retirement.
