Former UFC lightweight top contender Nate Diaz (pictured) ain’t buying what Josh Thomson is selling.
Diaz believes the aggressive post issued on Thomson’s official Twitter account late Saturday night directed toward his brother, Nick Diaz, wasn’t because Thomson’s cell phone was stolen and the thief called out his big bro for a fight, as Thomson contends had happened, but it was actually sent by a drunk-tweeting Thomson.
“You got drunk talked a bunch of stupid s*** when you woke up you panicked an #backpeddled #sorryasslittlebitch #whatreallyhappened #bereal,” Diaz responded via Twitter.
Diaz has the right to be suspicious. This isn’t like Jon Jones’ case where his phone hacker made homophobic comments on his Instagram account. Thomson’s thief was privy to the MMA game – knowing he TKO’d Nate, that Nate has a brother who fights named Nick, the date for the UFC’s event in San Jose and that the Diaz’s rep Stockton.
“I knocked out your brother, I’ll knock ur bitch ass out in San Jose July 26th.Let’s do it Bitch, San Jose vs Stockon. Yup, F*** U NICK DIAZ!” the alleged culprit wrote on Thomson’s official Twitter account.
Early Sunday morning, Thomson apologized and claimed someone had stolen his phone and made the comments on his page.
Thomson lost his top contender status in January when he dropped a controversial split decision to Benson Henderson. “Punk” was so distraught after the defeat that he was contemplating retirement.
Speaking of retirement, Nick Diaz hasn’t been seen since losing to then-welterweight king Georges St-Pierre in March 2103. The 30-year-old immediately retired for the second time in as many fights.
However, Nick recently said he’d return to action if it was for the title or $500,000.
Nate has also been griping for a pay raise after TKO’ing Gray Maynard in November. That was his first win in three outings.
