There was an abundance of smack talking between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (pictured) and Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal leading up to Bellator 120, and best believe there was plenty of trash talking between the bitter rivals after Saturday’s shootout.
Sandwiched between the verbal warfare was 15 minutes of back-and-forth action, which resulted in a controversial (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) unanimous decision victory for Rampage.
King Mo, who took the first round, claimed that Rampage knew he had lost the fight because he asked King Mo for a rematch before the verdict was even rendered.
“He said it before the judges said anything. He said he wanted a rematch,” King Mo shared at the post-fight press conference. “So, you all know what that means.”
Rampage, who snagged the second stanza, said he only asked for a sequel was because he was unable to knock his nemesis out. Regarding who won, Rampage told King Mo to look in the mirror at his swollen left eye.
“I’m gonna keep it 100,” Rampage stated. “I think you won the first round. I think I won the second round. And I think the last round was really close, but look at your face.”
Just in case you were wondering, Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney, who was sitting between King Mo and Rampage, said he scored the contest the same as the three judges.
Rampage’s win earns him next dibs at Bellator light heavyweight champ Emanuel Newton. However, that doesn’t mean Rampage vs. King Mo II isn’t a possibility – whether it’s an immediate rematch or after Rampage fights for the hardware.
