UFC Fight Night 15 Results and Bonuses

UFC Fight Night 15 was held at the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha last night, and was headlined by former “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 5 champion Nate Diaz defeating Josh Neer via split decision. The UFC also handed out their Fight Bonuses for the event as well. The premiere of “The Ultimate Fighter” season 8 followed the live broadcast. Eric Schafer vs. Houston Alexander

1stRound:

Alexander lands two big knees to Schafer’s head that drops him. After a short time on the ground, the fight gets back up standing as Schafer continues to go for takedowns. After landing another big knee to Schafer’s head, Schafer gets Alexander on the ground and mounts him.

Schafer is able to control Alexander’s right wrist and unleashes some heavy Ground ‘N Pound. He catches Alexander in an arm triangle and submits him just before the round is set to expire.

Alan Belcher 185 VS Ed Herman 185

1stRound

There isn’t much activity as both fighters exchange strikes and clinch against the fence, as Herman takes Belcher to the mat. He advances to a side mount, but Belcher is able to get the fight back up when Herman goes for a Dars choke. Herman slams Belcher back to the mat as the round ends. (5thRound scores the round 10-9 Herman).

2ndRound

Belcher lands a left hook to Herman’s face, and continues to land more strikes to Herman’s face. Belcher looks like the fresher fighter, but Herman comes back with a great elbow. Belcher lands a big right and stuns Herman, as they clinch against the fence.

Belcher lands another right elbow to Herman’s face against the fence. The fighters exchange more strikes in the center of the cage, as Herman lands a big right kick, and is able to take Belcher to the ground. Herman is able to advance to half guard, but hasn’t inflicted much damage. The fight gets back standing, and Belcher lands a Superman punch as the round comes to an end (5thRound scores the round 10-9 Belcher).

3rdRound

Belcher lands two nice left jabs to start the round. Both fighters clinch against the cage as the ref seperates them due to inactivity. Herman is finally able to get the fight to the ground, but isn’t able to do any damage. Belcher lands a head kick as they get to their feet. Herman gets Belcher back down, and lands in full guard swinging away as the horn sounds (5thRound scores the round 10-9 Herman, Herman winning the fight 29-28).

Clay Guida 155 VS Mac Danzig 155

1stRound

Fast pace start, however no fighter lands anything significant. Guida lands a couple of nice leg kicks and goes in for a shoot, but Danzig is able to fend him off. Danzig goes for a shoot, but Guidaa is able to fight him off. Danzig lands a nice right hook, but Guida is able to take Danzig to the mat.

Danzig is able to get the fight back up, but Guida picks him back up and slams him to the canvas. Guida hasn’t done much damage either time the fight has been on the ground. Danzig gets back up, and Guida slams him to the mat a third time (5thRound scores the round 10-9 Guida).

2ndRound

Guida comes out more aggressive to start the 2ndRound, taking the center of the ring. Danzig lands a straight right kick to Guida’s face, and Guida fires right back with a strike to the face. Danzig is throwing more strikes, however isn’t landing anything. Guida comes with a flurry of his own, however comes up empty as well.

Guida continues to go for takedowns, and has Danzig pinned against the cage. Danzig gets back up. Guida goes for a single-leg takedown, but Danzig is able to fight him off. Danzig lands a nice right and knee in the clinch. Guida takes his back with hooks in, but Danzig fights to get back to side control (5thRound scores the round 10-9 Guida).

3rdRound

Guida has Danzig pinned up against the cage, as Guida continues to go for the single-leg takedown. Danzig turns him agaisnt the cage and Danzig takes Guida down and goes for a Kimura. Guida gets free and has a body lock on Danzig. Danzig looks very tired. Guida is able to get him on the mat and passes to half guard. Guida is draped over him like a wet blanket. Guida is trying to take his back, but settles for a standard takedown. Guida finshes the fight with a flurry in Danzig’s guard (5thRound scores the round 10-9 Guida, Guida winning the fight 30-27).

Josh Neer 155 VS Nate Diaz 155

1stRound

Neer picks Diaz up and slams him to the mat and immediately goes for a Dars choke, but Diaz gets free. Neer takes his back and slams him to the mat again. Diaz constantly going for submissions, but is unable to get anything. Neer does a solid job of avoiding danger.

Diaz hits Neer with the infamous Diaz pepper shots, nothing powerful or damaging. He takes Neer to the mat with a powerful judo throw. Diaz lands a strike to Neer’s face and takes Neer’s back as the round comes to an end (5thRound scores the round 10-9 Diaz).

2ndRound

Diaz looks like the fresher fighter and takes Neer to the mat. He eats two up kicks as he stands over Neer. As the fighters get back to their feet, Neer slams Diaz to the mat and takes his back. He had both hooks in and almost cinched a rear-naked choke, but Diaz escapes. Diaz continues to throw his legs over Neer’s head, looking for a triangle, but Neer does a good job of avoiding.

Neer lands nice elbows to Diaz’ head and continues to drape himself on Diaz. Diaz lands a nice knee as as they clinch. Both fighters exchange strikes as the round ends (5thRound scores the round 10-9 Neer).

3rdRound

Diaz takes Neer to the mat, but nothing comes of it. He stands over Neer and Neer gets back to his feet. Diaz gets a hold of Neer’s back with both hooks in, he rolls over to full mount. Neer is able to fight him off, but Diaz is relentless in his takedown attempts.

Diaz takes him down again, but Neer is able to get the fight back up. Diaz throws him back to the mat with another judo throw. Diaz ends the fight with a flurry on the ground (5thRound scores the round 10-9 Diaz, Diaz winning the fight 29-28)
