You have to give Kenny Florian credit for his heart and determination. Every time he comes up short of becoming a champion, he gets right back on the saddle and gives it another go. UFC 107 won’t be any different as he’ll have to get past Clay Guida to work his way back up the lightweight division.
It all started at the first “The Ultimate Fighter” Finale where he was outclassed by fellow castmate Diego Sanchez to lose the six-figure contract, which prompted him to work on his game even more.
Following the loss, Florian ripped off 3 wins in a row and earned himself a title shot against Sean Sherk at UFC 64. Unfortunately, Florian still wasn’t ready to fight against the division’s elite.
The loss to Sherk started another win streak. This time he pulled off six straight wins over the likes of Joe Lauzon, Roger Huerta and Joe Stevenson. The UFC again rewarded Florian with a title shot, this time against BJ Penn at UFC 101 where he once again came up short.
Saturday night against Guida marks another new beginning for Florian.
