Was Kenny Florian Right To Change Coaches? We’ll Find Out At UFC 107

Kenny Florian and Mark DellaGrotte were like Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Well, not really, but they were synonymous together. Things have changed for Florian’s preparations for Clay Guida at UFC 107 as DellaGrotte is no longer in Florian’s camp.

The former #1 contender now trains with Frias Zahabi, the same Zahabi who works with welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.

Florian and St-Pierre have been friends for quite some time so the move to train with GSP and his coach made sense for the Boston native.

“Having the opportunity to work with Georges himself, I work with him every single day that I’m in Montreal, he’s such a huge help and gives me so much confidence when we’re training … I’ve learned so much from Georges, I’ve learned so much from all the guys up there,” Florian recently told the Winnipeg Free Press.

It seems as though Florian feels that he has learned all he could from DellaGrotte and that he must move on if he wants to continue to progress in MMA.

“I feel like it’s been a total rebirth, a total upgrade of what I’ve been doing,” an excited Florian continued.

After two failed title runs, Florian hopes that the third time is the charm with Firas now in his corner.
