The bad news, contract talks between the UFC and Gina Carano (pictured), which began at least four months ago, have stalled. The good news, a deal to sign former boxer Holly Holm is advancing.
“Talks with Holly Holm are in a good place and progressing. The talks with Gina Carano have stalled. She’s a free agent at this time,” reporter Ariel Helwani said on this week’s edition of “UFC Tonight.”
The Carano update must be disappointing for the UFC. Pitting her against reigning bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey in her return bout could potentially break all UFC pay-per-view records.
White claimed earlier this month that he was having trouble ironing out a deal with Carano because her Hollywood agent was a “pain” to negotiate with. However, there’s still hope that “Conviction” still could end her five-year MMA hiatus.
White slammed the door on inking Holm in March because he was less than pleased with Holm’s manager – which is typically code for, they were demanding too much money. Fast forward a few months and it now appears to be only a matter of time before Holm enters the octagon.
