That’s so not money. On this week’s edition of “UFC Tonight,” it was announced an undisclosed injury has forced reigning featherweight champion Jose Aldo (pictured) out of his UFC 176 title tilt against Chad “Money” Mendes.
No word on how long Aldo will be forced to ride the pine. It is believed the UFC will shelve Mendes until the Brazilian is good to go.
Mendes’ last defeat came in highlight reel fashion when he blocked Aldo’s knee with his face at UFC 142 in January 2012.
The August 2 event takes place inside Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. No word on who will now headline the gig.
A pivotal middleweight scrap between Gegard Mousasi and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza is currently slated to co-headline the festivities.
Here is the show’s current lineup:
Beneil Dariush vs. Tony Martin
Zach Makovsky vs. Jussier Formiga
Gray Maynard vs. Fabricio Camoes
Bethe Correia vs. Shayna Baszler
Derek Brunson vs. Lorenz Larkin
Tony Ferguson vs. Danny Castillo
Bobby Green vs. Abel Trujillo
Gegard Mousasi vs. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza
