Ask, and you shall receive – that is, if you’re Derrick Lewis. Just three days after calling out Matt Mitrione (pictured), Davis was granted his wish.
UFC officials confirmed the matchup late Wednesday night.
Lewis hasn’t lost a scrap since June 2011, and is perfect through his first two bouts in the big leagues. After plastering Carlos Augusto Filho Sunday at “The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale,” he requested a tango with Mitrione, who was sitting cageside.
“‘Make my name taste like ass when you speak it’…you asked for me, now you got me,” Mitrione tweeted after the fight was confirmed.
Mitrione has dropped three of his past five, but knocked out Shawn Jordan in his most recent outing.
The September 5 event takes place inside Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Connecticut.
No word on whether the UFC Fight Night 50 will be made available for live viewing on UFC Fight Pass, Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2 or some combination of the three.
