Former UFC star Brandon Vera (pictured) has found a new place of employment, and it’s halfway across the globe.
Just one month after it was reported Vera was cut from the UFC, the 36-year-old has joined ONE FC, Asia’s largest mixed martial arts promotion.
ONE FC announced their latest acquisition via Twitter.
Vera owns a 12-7 (1 NC) professional record, but went just 8-7 (1 NC) inside the octagon. He was released after a 1-4 skid.
“The Truth’s” UFC career started out with great promise nine years ago, as he discussed donning both the heavyweight and light heavyweight titles after winning his first four fights in devastating fashion in the big leagues.
However, things quickly went downhill after a long contract dispute.
Vera was initially fired after getting dominated by Thiago Silva at UFC 125, which was his third straight loss at the time. However, Vera was granted a reprieve after Silva flunked his post-fight drug test and their scrap was overturned to a no contest.
Vera rebounded in his next outing against Eliot Marshall, had an impressive showing in a TKO defeat to former champ Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, then looked awful in August’s TKO loss to Ben Rothwell.
No word on when Vera will make his ONE FC debut.
