Oh, ish just got real. Just in case you didn’t know before, understand now – the beef between reigning UFC light heavyweight king Jon Jones (pictured) and Daniel Cormier is the real deal.
The two archenemies, who were supposed to wait until September 27 to scrap at UFC 178, couldn’t resist the urge to get physical during Monday’s media gathering inside the MGM Grand lobby in Las Vegas.
Tensions have been running high between the pair for years, and it came to a head, literally, when they squared off for a photo opp.
Jones pressed his forehead against Cormier’s, which “DC” quickly took exception to by shoving Jones back. Jones then charged at Cormier, winging and seemingly missing a left heymaker.
The rumble went to the ground as they were pulled apart by countless security.
“I won’t let another man get in my face and put his forehead against mine. I will react every time. @JonnyBones next time I will slap you,” Cormier posted on Twitter after the altercation.
“Put some ice on that face DC, you got lots of interviews tomorrow,” Jones promptly countered. “Lol those baby punches from the bottom, I really hope you have more prepared than that for when I take you down again.”
Cormier claims Jones’ punches came up empty.
No word if Jones and Cormier will be fined by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, who will sanction their UFC 178 title tilt.
