Abel Trujillo is out of his UFC Fight Night 47 scrap against Ross Pearson with an undisclosed injury, former lightweight top contender Gray Maynard is in. Wait, wasn’t Maynard already fighting in the August 16 event?
Correct, Maynard was slated to face Fabrício Camoes, but he was bumped to a more important matchup after Trujillo’s exit. Camoes will now be shelved for another day.
Maynard has dropped three of his past four bouts, including two straight. “The Bully” hasn’t been seen since getting TKO’d by Nate Diaz in November. Diaz has also pulled a disappearing act since their encounter, but that’s a story for another day…
Pearson will be looking to bounce back from June’s highway robbery split decision defeat to Diego Sanchez. UFC president Dana White said they would treat Pearson as though he won.
Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine hosts the festivities. Fox Sports 1 broadcasts the main card live.
