The Nebraska Athletic Commission released the medical suspensions from last Wednesday’s UFC Fight Night 15 event at the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Nebraska. Fortunately for the UFC, there was only one fighter that sustained an injury that will require him to be sidelined. Unfortunately for Joe Vedepo, it was him.
Vedepo suffered a 1stRound knockout to Alessio Sakara, which earned Sakara an extra $30,000 for Knockout of the Night. The UFC newcomer was issued a 45-day suspension due to “heavy head blows.”
Vedepo, who was making his UFC debut, had staggered Sakara early in their bout, however, Sakara quickly recovered and connected on a head kick that set up his 1stRound victory.
UFC Fight Night 15 was headlined by former “The Ultimate Fighter” season 5 champion Nate Diaz defeating Josh Neer. The commission reported that the event drew a sold out crowd of 9,103, and set a venue record with its $700,000 in live gate sales.
