Following “UFC 107: Penn vs. Sanchez,” UFC president Dana White re-iterated that the UFC’s heavyweight division will have some clarity after Brock Lesnar gets his health re-evaluated. “We’ll know in a month to a month and a half whether he’s going to need that major surgery,” White said.
Lesnar’s uncertain health has also made the futures of Shane Carwin, Cain Velasquez, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir cloudy.
After Lesnar was shelved indefinitely, Carwin went ahead and had surgery on his knee while White put together a heavyweight bout between Velasquez and Nogueira at UFC 110 in Australia.
So, what if Lesnar isn’t healthy enough to fight soon?
“If he needs that major surgery there’ll be an interim title,” White clarified.
