With EliteXC’s third CBS promotion set to take place next weekend, the organization is already working diligently behind the scenes to put together their final event of the year. It looks like they will be teaming with Showtime for a major broadcast on November 8th. Vice President Jared Shaw confirmed that Joey Villasenor, Rafael Feijao, Brett Rogers, and Nick Diaz will all be competing on the card.
Shaw stated that they are still working on solidifying a location and venue, as well as finding opponents for the fighters that have already agreed to fight on the card.
Rumors are circulating that Villasenor will be getting a rematch against middleweight champion Robbie Lawler. Villasenor lost to Lawler at Pride 32 in 2006. This would be Villasenor’s second crack at the EliteXC belt. He lost to Murilo Rua a little over a year ago.
Shaw did confirm that former lightweight champion KJ Noons would not be Diaz’ opponent on the November card. A drama filled two months resuled in Noons finally being stripped of his title on Friday. However, a report did surface today that Noons will be making a final decision on his MMA future later today.
A possible opponent for Diaz could be Eddie Alvarez, who hasn’t fought for the company since January to pursue tougher opponents in Japan. This will be a great opportunity for two of the world’s best lightweights to duke it out for the open EliteXC title.
