Danny Castillo thought he did enough to post a win in front of his hometown peeps on Saturday at UFC 177, but two of the three judges sitting octagon-side who got paid to score his scrap with Tony Ferguson (pictured) disagreed.
When the dust settled on their shootout, Ferguson was awarded a controversial (28-29, 29-28, 29-28) split decision victory.
UFC president Dana White said the right lightweight got his hand raised. He said Castillo didn’t inflict as much damage and merely laid on Ferguson like a blanket when he was on top.
UFC 177 took place inside Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California.
