Former WEC welterweight champion Carlos Condit was supposed to be fighting Paul Daley in a welterweight clash at UFC 108 on January 2nd. However, he was forced to pull out of the fight after coming down with a staph infection on his “tendon sheath.”

Condit sent a statement to NewMexicoCage saying that surgery went well and that he was, “Still in the hospital, but I might be able to go home tomorrow.”

Dustin Hazelett has since stepped in for the injured Condit to face Daley who is coming off of an impressive win over Martin Kampmann at UFC 103 in his UFC debut. Kampmann coincidentally owns a victory over Condit.

There is no timetable set for Condit’s return, but he will have to get clearance from doctor’s prior to resuming training.
