UFC 67 was the last time a challenger missed weight for a title fight. It’s been nearly eight years since Travis Lutter disrespected then-middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
However, at least Lutter made it to the scale. Renan Barao didn’t even appear on stage after reportedly passing out trying to cut weight before Friday’s UFC 177 weigh-ins.
In UFC president Dana White’s (pictured) latest edition of “Embedded,” he reveals what went down behind-the-scenes when the UFC had to swap out Barao for Joe Soto at the 11th hour.
The footage shows the fighters getting a practice weigh-in with UFC site coordinator Burt Watson. Barao was at least 140 pounds at 9:23AM because the scale wasn’t near level when the bar was floating around 138 pounds.
Bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw, meanwhile, was ecstatic to be 139 pounds at 10:21AM.
Dillashaw hit 135 pound on the dot when it counted, while Barao, well…
