UFC superstar Nick Diaz (pictured) was arrested on suspicion of DUI on September 6 at 2:20AM in Lodi, California.
According to lodinews.com, the Lodi Police Department also hit Diaz for obstructing a police officer, destruction of evidence and driving with a suspended license.
The destruction of evidence charge stems from Diaz trying to vomit before submitting to a breathalyzer at the police station.
The controversial 31-year-old is expected back in court on September 27 for arraignment.
The UFC quickly issued a statement after Diaz’s arrest went public.
“We are aware of the situation and are in the process of gathering the facts,” the statement read. “We understand that there is a legal process that will now take place and that Nick Diaz will have the opportunity to address the situation in the near future.”
From the looks of Diaz’s mugshot, he’s not too worried, despite the fact it was Diaz’s second DUI arrest in the last 10 months. True story.
FoxSports.com reports Diaz was also arrested last November 20 on three other counts: DUI, DUI with an alcohol or drug level above .08 and unsafe speed for prevailing conditions, according to a San Joaquin County Court spokesperson.
Diaz joins light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and lightweight Ross Pearson as current UFC fighters to get popped for driving while impaired. There could be more, but these were the only arrests that hit the Internet.
Jones and Pearson were not disciplined for their indiscretions by the UFC.
Diaz is slated to end his second retirement from MMA to face Anderson Silva at UFC 183 on January 31.
