If you look up “walk the walk, and talk the talk” in the dictionary, you’ll likely see a picture of Conor McGregor (pictured) flashing his million-dollar smile while donning a three-piece suit.
McGregor told the MMA world that he was going to knock Dustin Poirier out in the opening round of their highly-anticipated shootout, and that’s exactly what the chatty Irishman did on Saturday night at UFC 178.
Technically, it was a TKO and not a clean KO, but you get the point.
After a few fancy kicks, McGregor said something to Poirier before turning up the heat. He dropped “Diamond” with a shot to the top of the head and finished it off with a barrage on the ground.
Poirier suggested after the fight that some of the punches were illegally placed on the back of his head. Possibly, but he’s not going to get that call against McGregor.
Now, McGregor will fly to Brazil and sit front and center to watch featherweight king Jose Aldo defend his throne against Chad Mendes at UFC 179.
UFC 178 took place inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
