Nike might no longer be in the Jon “Bones” Jones business, but Adidas is now in the Luke Rockhold (pictured) business.
The athletic apparel company has announced they have signed Rockhold, known by many as the most handsome man in MMA, to an endorsement deal.
Terms of Rockhold’s agreement were not disclosed.
“Luke Rockhold is the kind of renaissance athlete a brand dreams of working with,” Adidas Combat Sports Managing Director Scott Viscomi told Forbes.com. ”He understands what it means to be a professional Adidas athlete, and he does everything we ask of him, in addition to bringing us opportunities. We are honored to have him on the team with Robbie and look forward to working with them as we continue our mission to add value to the USA combat sports market.”
Rockhold says he’s been an Adidas fan since legendary rap group Run DMC made the brand famous back in the 1980s.
“Ever since Run DMC came out with their shell toes and Adidas track suits, I was hooked. I can’t imagine a better brand to represent,” said Luke Rockhold. ”I’m looking forward to taking over the MMA world with Adidas Combat Sports.”
Rockhold joins Robbie Lawlar as the second UFC star to sign with Adidas. However, welterweight champion Johny Hendricks and lightweight champ Anthony Pettis also have deals with Reebok.
Reebok and Adidas are owned by holding company Adidas AG.
Rockhold is expected to don his new Adidas duds November 8 when he meets Michael Bisping in Australia.
