Former UFC lightweight champ Sean Sherk has sustained a significant cut on the right-side of his forehead, directly above his eye, and will be forced to pull out of his UFC 108 scrap on January 2nd against Jim Miller.
Sherk’s manager, Monte Cox, told Sherdog.com late Thursday night that the 36-year-old suffered a cut during a recent training session that required multiple stitches in order to close.
According to the website, the organization is already thumbing through their roster to find a suitable replacement to face the scrappy Miller in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This isn’t the first time Sherk has pulled out of a bout. He did the same when he was slated to face Gleison Tibau at UFC 104 last October. On that occasion, he suffered a “Grade II AC separation” in his right shoulder while rolling with a teammate.
Miller was last seen taking a 2ndRound TKO over Steve Lopez at UFC 103 last September in Dallas, Texas. He holds an impressive 15-2 pro mark, and has rolled of W’s in 10 out of his last 11 contests.
As of now, here are the fighters rumored to be participating in the night’s pay-per-view broadcast:
